Gifts for New Parents
Sometimes you have to opt for off registry baby shower gifts. Maybe their registry is bought out, they're second-time parents and have everything they need, or you want to send over a token of love and support once they've had the baby. No matter the reason why, here are some great ideas for baby shower gifts that aren't necessarily registry eligible but are well appreciated by the parents when received.

Take away the worry of what's for dinner by providing a meal.

Provide a Meal

It can be tough adjusting to a new life, and not worrying about dinner or cleaning up can go a long way for the new parents. I've used Send A Meal, on my own accord, a couple of times, and have always gotten a positive response from the giftees. To coordinate a schedule with large groups, Meal Train helps to make the process easy and convenient for everyone.

If you want to add a personal touch or provide more than one meal while still being friendly to your wallet, no one ever said no to a delicious home-cooked meal. Use foil pans, drop it off on their porch, and send them a sweet text that it's there.  I have several great recipe ideas on my Homemade Food Recipes Pinterest board.

Is your kitchen extra closet storage? Send them a DoorDash or Grubhub gift card, or gift a recipe book for 30-minute meals or slow cooker recipes. Slow cooker recipes are great because most of them allow you to pour in all the ingredients and come back hours later to a perfectly cooked meal.

Help them reduce stress over cleaning by providing a service.

Cleaning Service

It's already hard to keep up with housework without a newborn baby in the mix. A gift that can be helpful in stress relief and sanity is offering to help the new parents knock some chores off their list while the baby's napping, or to help them do their yard work on the weekend. If you don't want to personally do the work, some local services allow you to gift any amount.

Even the shortest breaks can help them feel refreshed.

A Break

A little time to take a break or get things checked off the list can be a huge stress relief. Ask to bring them coffee or tea while the baby is napping, or to sit with the baby while they run a couple of quick errands.

Help them relax and feel rejuvenated with a spa treatment.

Spa Treatments

Pedicures, prenatal massages, and essential oils all make great new mother gifts. Gifting some "me time" may be just what she needs to rejuvenate during the newborn period.

You can never have too many diapers.

Diapers

When in doubt, go with diapers. You can't go wrong with lots and lots of diapers. Be sure to give them a gift receipt, so it doesn't matter which size you get. These days most stores allow you to exchange diapers for the size you need. If you want to make the gift more special and personalized, make them a diaper wreath. I have a tutorial here.

If they are going the cloth diaper route, a diaper cleaning service would be much appreciated. Find a local diaper service and see if they'll let you gift a monthly subscription or a gift card if only a long term subscription is possible.

Don't forget to protect their noses. Something as small as a deodorizer for the diaper pale can be a sure win.

Take off some stress by helping with their pet.

Pet Care

When the baby is first brought home, the new parents' schedule might not align with what their animals are used to. A gift card to a local dog-walking or grooming service could be a nice idea while everyone adjusts.

Animals are a part of the family, and owners may not be sure how they'll react when they bring home a new baby. A book of advice in adjusting animals to babies could be extremely helpful.
