Homemade face masks allow for natural ingredients, skincare on your own time, and they can be more cost-efficient. This post shares my avocado mask recipe to help moisturize, exfoliate, and leave your skin glowing.
What Does an Avocado Mask Do for Your Face?
When my skin feels drier than usual, I turn to this avocado honey mask, with avocado as the main ingredient because of its moisturizing properties. Avocado hydrates your skin and reduces inflammation and redness.
What Do You Put in an Avocado Face Mask?
You can mix in other ingredients with avocado to target additional skin challenges. Below are the benefits of orange and honey, which I also used to create this recipe.
Orange juice gently exfoliates and brightens your skin as well as cleans clogged pores for preventing acne.
Honey has numerous benefits for your skin. I prefer to use it because it moisturizes your face and opens your pores to cleanse blackheads. It also acts as a natural anti-aging compound.
How Do You Make an Avocado Face Mask?
Mash up the avocado with a fork and mix in the orange juice and honey. I hand-mashed the avocado causing it to be a little lumpy, but it wasn't falling off or anything. Choose a soft avocado and puree it for a smoother texture.
Apply the mask to a clean face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then wash it off with warm water.
The recipe yields enough for two masks. So you can share it with a friend during a girls' night-in or save the rest for later. I put saran wrap over the bowl, and it lasted for three days refrigerated.
What I liked the most about this avocado mask was the refreshing sensation on my face when applied, and it left my skin feeling smooth with a noticeable glow.
